Mornin ya'll!
To start us off on a good note: Something I've learned about myself that all 4 of my companions have pointed out to me, is Sister Huffaker's work does not end at 10:30pm. I continue to teach the missionary discussions in my sleep as well. Not only that, but I give sufficient amount of time for my "investigators" to respond to questions and give the appropriate responses. Maybe its those in the Spirit World...hopefully its going well;)
Something that has been dwelling on my mind lately and the very thing I bore my testimony on this past Sunday, has been one of my favorite scripture stories about the 2000 stripling warriors. The testimony and strength that these young men had to make the courageous decision to stand up for what they believe, to go to war with no fighting background and protect their families. What truly amazes me, is the reasons why they had such courage and faith.
The answers are found in Alma 56:47-48
47. Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. 48. And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.
These remarkable verses shout volumes of the impact their mother's example, teachings, and faith had on these teenaged boys and the lasting effects it had on their attitude towards God and life.
You can imagine that these wonderful parents did not forsee that their children would go through such a trial so early in their lives. Yet they had prepared them spiritually at a young age to be ready at all times. They were confident in their faith and knew the Lord would be with them.
This amazing story shows the importance of teaching your children at even a very young age the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Parents have an incredible responsibility to teach their children the ways of truth and light. In a short, condensed way of saying it, you are preparing them with the foundation and testimony that will support them as they face life's challenges. How great is your calling!
That being said...Mother's Day is a great reminder to me of the wonderful women that I have in my life to look up to and who have taught me the ways of truth. I am extremely grateful for my "Stripling Warrior" Mama. I cannot even begin to express the love and admiration I have for her. God has given me the greatest blessing in the world to have her in my life. No amount of words could ever touch the surface of the gratitude I have for her. Thank you for being all that you are to me Ma.
I love ya'll so much,
Sister Huffaker
