Hello my loves!
It's been a good minute since I wrote an email, so I'm sorry about that! This transfer has flown by, and it kills me that I am finally leaving my "birth place" and transfering to my second area. It has been an amazing 6 months and I wouldn't trade the people I've met and the experiences I've had for anything. I'll let ya'll know my new address next week when I find out where I am going!
GREAT NEWS:
Thanks to the wonderful McCabe family and their pursuit to makin me a true Southern girl, I ate Alligator and Frog Legs with them this week:)
One of my favorite scriptures right now is 1 Nephi 11:17
"[Because] I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not [need to] know the meaning of all things."
Something that I have had a very difficult time with while being a missionary, is being surrounded by these wonderful people who have had unimaginable struggles and hardships in their lives that some of us could never comprehend them actually happening to people. The pain, saddess, and depressing events that have happened during their childhood, in their present lives or even just the mindset they have aquired, are the most horrific things I could ever think of. During these times, this scripture brings the hope to my heart that all things have a divine purpose. We simply do not know why everything happens the way that it does, but we can find courage in the knowlege that the Lord knows. And with that knowledge, we are able to trust Him that he will not forsake us. In our own lives, we are given trials to help us specifically grow into the people the Lord knows that we can become. He will take us to the very brink in order for us to gain the greatest amount of growth. Don't give up when life seems to be too much, don't allow Satan to influence your mind that you are not capable of rising. You are a son, you are a daughter of God. Don't allow your trials to overtake you, kneel and ask for help. I pray that we can all have the confidence that Nephi had in the Lord that...because He loves His children we do not need to know all things. Law of Compensation is real...if not in this life, then surely the next. As Elder Wirthin said to his daughter in a midst of a hardship, my advice would be his, “The simple secret is this: put your trust in the Lord, do your best, then leave the rest to Him.”
I love ya'll so much...I pray for you everyday. Remember...God is good, the gospel is true, and prayer really works. Though those truths are simple, they are powerful and I know they can change us forever.
Love your sister missionary,
