This past week I received a heart wrenching letter from a person I love and admire very much. Expressing some of the severe struggles that are currently going on in his life right now, I had to turn to the Lord for strength and guidance. With my heart broken for my dear friend and the challenges he's going through, it brought me to my knees. As I cried to the Lord, a thought came to me that I will never be able to express the amount of comfort it gave to me. I knew in that very instance that God was already and would continue to take care of it. All of it. I knew that this man was a Son of God, and has a Heavenly Father that wants nothing more for His son, than to be happy and successful in this life. In my heart, I could feel the Savior's love for me and my loved one.
A scripture that has given me a lot of comfort and strength is found in the Book of Mosiah 24:14-16
14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.
16 And it came to pass that so great was their faith and their patience that the voice of the Lord came unto them again, saying: Be of good comfort, for on the morrow I will deliver you out of bondage.
In this story, they pled for the relief of their burdens that felt were crushing them. In verse 14 we know that the Lord is present and anxiously helping DURING the midst of His children's afflictions. He does not leave us to fend for ourselves. He asks us to turn to Him and bear with patience, sharing the burden.
I testify from the bottom of my heart that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is real. It is a free gift for us to choose to use. We do not have to endure this life on our own and be stuck in a position we do not want to be in. This life is to become a better you, and it is through Christ's love...His unconditional love that we can CHOOSE to live to our great capacity, even in time of weakness. "God allowed His Son to provide, by His atoning sacrifice, the hope that comforts us no matter how hard the way home to Him may be."
For my loved ones that may be struggling....have hope. "Hope is the anchor of our souls, Hope is trust in God's promises, faith that if we act now, the desired blessings will be fulfilled in the future." God doesn't expect or desire us to find our way in this life alone. I pray that we can all build our confidence in our loving Heavenly Father that our trials are perfectly designed to strengthen us and in the end obtain the most growth.
Please remember...
Joy always comes after sorrow...Light always comes after darkness. Be patient and have hope in God. He knows what He's doing.
